A payment account allows sellers to track payment amounts, refunds, and fees related to transactions and seller services. Sellers must provide accurate personal information as requested during registration, and are responsible for maintaining and updating that information as necessary. Sellers will not impersonate any person or use any name they are not legally authorized to use. Sellers authorize us, and authorized agents, to verify their information (at registration and on occasion when using the Services) by accessing public records and obtaining credit reports about the sellers. Mawu Africa verifies sellers’ information in order to safeguard the integrity of the marketplace and reduce the risk of fraud, money laundering, terrorist financing, and the violation of trade sanctions.
Sellers may be charged for using some of Mawu Africa services. This Fees & Payments Policy explains your fees and taxes and how to pay them. This policy is a part of our Terms of Use. By opening a Mawu Africa shop, you’re agreeing to this policy and our Terms of Use.
When you make a sale through mawuafrica.com, you will be charged a transaction fee of 10% for retail orders and 20% for wholesale orders excluding the amount paid for shipping. An order is considered wholesale if the units order for the same SKU are above or equal to 30 units else it will considered as retail.
The transaction fee will apply to the listing price (which should include any applicable taxes). If you offer optional personalization for an additional fee, the additional fee for personalization is added to the listing price you display and the total display price is subject to the same transaction fees described in this Section. Transaction fees are deducted from your current balance as each sale occurs, and are reflected in your payment account.
Please read the following terms and conditions carefully before signing up as a merchant on our marketplace. By completing the registration process and using our platform, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these terms and conditions.
b. "Merchant" refers to an individual or entity that registers and operates a store on our marketplace.
b. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account login credentials and agree to be solely responsible for all activities that occur under your account.
c. You must promptly notify us of any unauthorized use of your account or any other breach of security.
b. You are solely responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the product or service listings, including descriptions, prices, and images.
c. You must promptly fulfill orders placed by customers and provide accurate shipping and delivery information.
d. You agree not to engage in any fraudulent, deceptive, or misleading activities on our marketplace.
a. You represent and warrant that you have the right to sell the products or services listed on our marketplace and that they do not infringe upon the intellectual property rights or other rights of any third party.
b. You agree to accurately describe your products or services and provide clear and truthful information.
c. You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, display, and distribute your product listings on our marketplace.
a. When a customer places an order for your product or service, you are obligated to fulfill the order in a timely manner and provide excellent customer service.
b. You acknowledge that we may charge fees or commissions for each transaction facilitated through our marketplace, and such fees will be communicated to you separately.
a. We will facilitate payment processing between you and the customer, and you authorize us to collect payments on your behalf.
b. Payments for completed orders, after deducting any applicable fees, will be settled to your designated account based on the agreed-upon schedule.
a. You retain ownership of the intellectual property rights in your product listings.
b. By using our marketplace, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, reproduce, and distribute your intellectual property solely for the purpose of promoting your products or services on our platform.
a. Either party may terminate this agreement at any time for any reason by providing written notice.
b. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account and remove your product listings if we reasonably believe that you have violated these terms and conditions or engaged in fraudulent or illegal activities.
a. To the extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or in connection with your use of our marketplace.
b. Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with these terms and conditions shall not exceed the fees paid by you to us in the six months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the republic of Kenya. Any disputes arising from or in connection with this Agreement shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the arbitration courts in Kenya.
By signing up as a merchant on our marketplace, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to abide by these terms and conditions. Failure to comply with these terms may result in the suspension or termination of your account
